But the 100 streamers who solely focus on the classic fantasy MMORPG have developed followings with audiences who return time and time again to explore an aging map. The RuneScape Classic Twitch community isn’t competing for attention with Fortnite streamers or well-known personalities. Walk around in either game, you'll see wwaaaayyyyy more bots in OSRS than RS3, though both games are plagued by bots.RuneScape Classic, the original version of the game developed by Jagex 17 years ago, is shutting down, a devastating turn of events for a devout group of Twitch streamers. The secondary reason is that it's a lot harder to bot RS3 and you get caught much sooner. First of all, they're fucking losers (they script Runescape bots, after all) and LOVE LOVE LOVE Old School Runescape and hate pesky stupid gay stupid Runescape 3. Most scripters went to Old School for a couple of reasons. I wouldn't touch Old School with a twenty foot pole.Īlso, RS3 has significantly less bots than Old School. The amount of bots in ether is likely no different ether since both are quite easy and even to access.The number of people playing either game at any time can fluctuate but Old School has more players on average and has for like the last, I dunno, year? There's some graph on the RuneWikia you can find that expresses the comparison but I can't be assed to hunt it down at the moment. No it hasn't, Both hold about the same amount in players and it bounces back and forth.Īs of this post there is 65K plying RS3 and 45K playing Old School. We'll most likely get vanilla wow version 1.5, and it'll be what the majority want. The only real lesson that can be learned when comparing the 2, imo, is that the majority want certain modern features/design choices, and value these more than a "classic experience". My point is, I guess,is that wow classic servers can basically do anything they want. Not only that, the engine is super old and archaic, and certain things are very hard to change ( they recently posted that changing the geometry of old zones is nigh impossible). At this point in time, its pretty clear they are running the skeletons of the skeleton crew. The EQ1 progression servers would be much different that they are now if they had more Dev time for them. (And any combat changes which between that and focus effects result in far higher DPS than originally possible) While they've designed in a surprisingly effective way of managing items and zones on a per-expansion basis, not all of it can be "turned back" anymore.While the building of, and progression over time of the Eq1 progression servers are worth studying for wow classic, the 2 companys really cant be directly compared in terms of resources. Similar to how EQ1 Progression servers have never maintained the original XP curve and all items have the focus effects that were patched in many years later. Yeah, I don't think people realize WoW Classic won't be nearly 100% Classic. I'm sad to see it go, but it was expected with how much the company has fallen. If you play RS3 at all you'll know full well how much they don't give a shit about players anymore. This isn't much, but if they can't maintain it and it costs a couple hundred dollars a year to keep up, might as well axe it. They are probably trying to just cut costs absolutely everywhere they can. They are owned by a failing chinese company now and while they make profit, it's been in sharp decline recently with how many people have been leaving RS3.

They have 90% interns who can't write code, and those who can don't understand runescript(which is runescapes unique code), and the last of the gower brothers left a year or two ago, and he was the last person working there who knew runescape classics code at all. They lose one of the few last good employees every couple weeks. Their glassdoor and other employee review sites paint the picture of the internal workings, and it's bad.
They are shutting down Chronicles, Funorb, and a couple other games they have that are not super successful, all on the exact same day. Are you full of shit again, Jtbrig7390? For shame.The real reason is actually seen when you look at jagex as a whole. Where are these "Game breaking bugs"? It mentions nothing about that.
